Today marks another milestone in the development of Chainfrog’s intellectual property strategy, with the granting and issuing of a United States patent titled “System and method for announcing cryptographic keys on a blockchain” and another titled “Revocation of cryptographic keys in the absence of a trusted central authority”. The applications were filed in 2016.

The patent for invention number 10,135,921 discloses a method and system for announcing public keys on a blockchain, which ensures that the public/private key pair cannot be used on the blockchain until the announcement. The invention includes cryptocurrency transactions associated with the announcement.

The patent for invention number 10,135,616 discloses a method and system for revoking a key on a blockchain, which subsequently bars the key from being used. This can be used to, for example, ensure that cryptocurrency is not sent to an invalidated blockchain address.

Together the patents also have significant application in the implementation of a distributed digital certificate authority.
