To be honest, when I signed up for the TDF conference in Oulu, I was in two minds whether I made the right decision. Fortunately the event was easily worth a long train journey, a short night in a hotel, and then another long train journey back home.
There were a lot of very good presentations; in particular the talks by Ilkka Lähteenmäki and David Brear stood out as informative and educational. The event was organised efficiently, and the coffee never ran out. I got to meet a lot of interesting and well-informed people.
I presented a Chainfrog pitch in the early part of the afternoon. Here’s a video: I was meant to talk for 3 minutes, but over-ran by 17 seconds. There was a bit of a hiccup at the beginning, when my pitch slides wouldn’t come up, so another learning experience is to have a plan to engage the audience and give them the chance to ask some questions in order to fill the gap.
Unfortunately Kimmo and I couldn’t stay for cocktails and mingling afterwards as we had a train to catch. Next time I’ll have to make sure I book a later return train.
